Started as “Artists Guild” in 1979, the present members of this band are the 3rd generation since its inception. The band has since changed its name to “Guild”. From the beginning the band held summer and winter concerts featuring all original songs. For five years following the 1995 “Hanshin Earthquake” that rocked the Kobe area the band began to work in cooperation with “Altec Cafe'” to support the reconstruction of the effected areas by sending total ticket sale proceeds to Kobe through the Japan Red Cross. In 2001 the band made their music studio in “Young Plaza" Kochi city. The band performs Standards Jazz and Bossa Nova and is becoming popular as a steady and fashionable Jazz band in the Shikoku island area.
Inoue, Shozo
-Leader, Saxophone player, composer and arranger-
Born in 1949, in Kochi prefecture Japan. After graduating high school in
Kochi, he worked for 32 years as a city planning engineer at the Kochi
city government office and was also a member and leader of an amateur jazz
band. After turning 50 he left his job and wrote his first novel entitled
“Crocodile Blues”. Later that same year he became independent as a professional
musician. He also started “Studio Guild” a Jazz education school and
currently retains over 30 students. His current band performs at “Altec”
Kochi`s famous jazz cafe', and also at a large array of other venues around
Shikoku Island. In the spring of 2003 he began composing music again after
a 15 year hiatus and has since released his original song album "You
can touch my eyes", and as well as being a well known talent he has
also appeared on numerous T.V. and radio programs..
